Flood Protection
Offshore Breakwaters
Where a coastline might be under threat from the sea but not requiring full scale repair, prevention of further damage via the
use of offshore breakwaters may be a cost effective, ecologically sound decision.
Siting breakwaters out at sea would prevent the waves battering the cliffs and coastline by destroying the power of the wave.
Greenstick Wall Technology is capable of forming such breakwaters, again at lower cost, minimal invasion to marine life and
without need for expensive, deployment vessels and heavy equipment.
Whilst the breakwater system can destroy a wave, a Greenstick breakwater could equally be deployed to make a surfing break
where there is a desire to manufacture surfing facilities.

The requirement to improve flood defences are high on the global
agenda. Scientists warn that the effects of global warming will be rising
sea levels and the likelihood of more flooding.
The East Riding of Yorkshire coastline is one of the fastest declining
coastlines in Europe with a worrying threat of an increase in inland
flooding. This isn’t, of course, the only coastline or region susceptible
to flooding.
Recent years have seen land and homes flooded in many parts of Britain, Europe and beyond. The cost of reparations is
enormous, not only in terms of restoring homes from the devastating effects of
filthy flood waters but also costly for farmers in terms of animals and crops. The
need for effective flood defence the world over is growing.
Greenstick Wall technology can provide a simple solution to building flood
defences.
By installing a non-permeable, water proof membrane, with a strong Greenstick
wall structure, flood waters can be held back from the land.
Flood Protection
The flood defence can also take the
form of an embankment, as shown.
Again, the water proof membrane is
deployed to seal the embankment or
soft cliff. Greenstick panels are then
deployed to form a very strong
structural defence for flood
protection or shore line defence.
Governments need to act urgently to
protect against flooding. The
Greenstick system can offer a simple,
cost effective, green solution.
